While  visiting  Cambodia  do  not forget to see the  most distinct features of the country.  The  country has  a  rich cultural heritage. The country has  a  variety of  classical  dance forms.  During the  fairs and  festivals  these  dance forms  are performed  everywhere in the country. These classical  dance forms have  a long  and  vivid history.  If you enjoy dancing and love  seeing  one then you are sure to  enjoy the dance  programs of  Cambodia.

Cambodia  has a number of  classical  dance forms  however, at the heart  of all dance forms there is Apsara dance a  joyful  form  of dance that is a  delight to watch.  The  dance is well known for its  graceful  moves. This dance form is very popular among the  classical  dance  forms of Cambodia.  No  matter where you go in Cambodia  you  are sure to hear about this  traditional dance  form.  The  traditional dance form  named  Apsara has  a rich  history.  This dance form originated in the  first  century.

The dance form is very gracious.  Not  only the  movements  of the dance  are graceful and gorgeous  but also the  traditional dancing  costume is gorgeous too. The dancers have  to wear golden headdresses, silken tunics and skirts. In the temple of  Angkor  a number of statues  of the  apsara dancers adorned  in  colorful  dresses are carved out of the stone. It is  estimated  that  in the  court of King Jayavarman VII as many  as  3000 Apsara dancers used to dance.

You  may find  a  striking  similary between the Apsara  dance  form and the  dance  form of Thailand. according  to some the Apsara dance has influenced the  dance  forms of the neighboring  countries. During the  sacking  of Angkor  empire some  of the Apsara dancers were  brought to  Thailand and  from there the cultural exchange took place.
