Music and dance go hand in dance in the  culture of  Cambodia.  There are a  number of  classical Cambodian  dance  that are performed only at  the  royal  courts. While there are  other dances  that are  very popular  in the  villages.  in the royal  court the Royal  Ballet perform the story of King Rama or  Ramayana,  a famous epic  originated  in India, through music  and  dances.  The  dance is  often  performed at the Royal courts as well  as in  the  princely functions and  festivals. During these  dances  a special music is  played along the  dance.  This  music is played  by  an  orchestra that  is  well  known  as  the  pinpeat orchestra. This orchestra plays the traditional  Cambodian  instruments along with the  dance. It is a percussive ensemble  that is  often used to accompany the  classical  dance forms. In the  pinpeat orchestra  a  number of  instruments are  played the  instruments include drums,  gongs,  xylophones  and  a  number of  other  instruments.  The xylophones  are made  form  bamboo.  Together they  produce a distinct music that  is very relaxing.
